Company Overview
Formerly known as Singapore Compact for CSR, the Global Compact Network Singapore is a national society promoting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Singapore and encourages and facilitates the progress of companies committed to aligning operations and strategies with the UN Global Compact’s universally accepted human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption principles.
 
Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) is the national lead agency promoting Corporate Sustainability, providing a one-stop concierge service for businesses to begin, deepen and broaden their sustainability journey. GCNS is the local chapter of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) network, and promotes UNGC’s 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, anti-corruption and the environment at country level.

In Singapore, to promote sustainability, the Singapore Exchange (SGX) announced in March 2013 that it would be moving to a “comply or explain” basis for listed companies to produce Sustainability Reports. The revised Singapore Code of Corporate Governance requires sustainability issues (environmental and social factors) to be considered by all Boards of Directors, as part of their strategic formulation. Increasingly, investors are including analysis of company’s sustainability risks/opportunities in their investment decisions.
