All deaths in Singapore must be registered at the Registry of Births & Deaths or a death registration centre within 24 hours. Once registered, a death certificate will be issued.
The person registering the death does not need to be related to the deceased.
The deaths of Singapore citizens and permanent residents that occur overseas should be registered with the relevant local authorities. Please see Death that Occurred Overseas for more information.

If the death was not attended by a doctor or authorised medical practitioner, you will need to engage a doctor or authorised medical practitioner to certify the death.
You can register the death at any neighbourhood police centre, neighbourhood police post or police division headquarters.

Operating hours are 8.00 am to 4.30 pm on Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am to 12.30 pm on Saturday.

There is no fee for registering a death.
Registration and collection will be processed on the spot.
