OUR HISTORY

St. Joseph’s Home was set up by the Catholic Welfare Services in 1978 to provide shelter, care and love for the aged and destitute, regardless of race or religion. It was the late Dr. Ee Peng Liang’s vision and untiring efforts that made this possible.

The Canossian Sisters volunteered their services for the administration and running of the Home. They were fully involved right from the beginning of its conception to the present day-to-day care of the residents.

St. Joseph’s Home is a person-centred home which values human dignity, providing the residents with holistic care through love, care and compassion.

In 1985, there was a pressing need to care for patients with advanced illness, and Dr. Ee was once again instrumental in starting the hospice. In 1993, St. Joseph’s Home moved to its present location.

Through the years, we have had the support of faithful volunteers and donors. Individuals who took time to perform medical checkups, host games and activities, and befriend our residents bring an important fabric of society into our Home.

New place Feb 2017

In February 2017, we moved back into Jurong West with bigger and better facilities. Our single-storey home has been transformed into a six-storey building, consisting of a big garden and sprawling walkways. This relocation brings fresh opportunities for us to work with our neighbours to redefine the way we look after our elders and ageing. The community partnerships function was officially set up to connect with our neighbouring offices, schools and residents.

In August 2017, our infant and childcare centre officially opened its doors. We welcomed our first cohort of children.

To better serve the community, more new services such as the Dusk-to-Dawn (night respite programme) and hydropool have also been introduced.
