Unlicensed Teenager and pillion rider Girlfriend dies in motorcycle crash back in July 2021, which was ruled on Friday 7th January 2022 by State Coroner Adam Nakhoda as a “road traffic misadventure”.
Back in 16th July 2021, 19-year-old Rafie Sherman Abdullah Tan, who did not have a licence, got hold of a motorcycle rented by another party. Tan rode it along Jurong West Central 1 with 17 year old girlfriend Nor Ayuni Abdullah.
At a right turn, Tan lost control of the bike which mounted a kerb and hit 2 trees on a grass patch, flinging both teens off the bike, sustaining multiple injuries and rushed to the hospital.
“From closed-circuit television footage, there was no encroachment by other vehicles travelling along that stretch of road as there were no vehicles seen travelling ahead or beside the motorcycle prior to the accident.”

Ayuni passed 2 hours later that day, and Tan succumbed to his injuries 3 days later.
